GAA & Live Sport

St Brendan’s Park, located directly across the road from the County Arms Hotel, hosted the first All-Ireland Hurling final in 1888. Today, Brendan’s park is a hive of activity every weekend with Camogie, Ladies Football and local hurling matches. The action intensifies during August & September as the County Championship swings into gear – there’s nothing like standing on the hill to watch a double header on a Saturday evening with legendary Offaly clubs such as Coolderry, Birr, Shinrone, St Rynagh’s, Kilcormac/Killoughey, Kinnitty and Clareen giving it 100% for local bragging rights.
