About Us
To stay here is to enjoy the pleasures of that age with all the modern conveniences of today. Secluded in its own wooded grounds at the foot of grassy slopes and less than ten minutes walk from Birr town centre, the County Arms Hotel is a charming family hotel, run by the Loughnane family who have lived in the locality for countless generations.
The County Arms Hotel is a hotel of character and charm,
its secluded location adds to the general ambience...
A listed building, this Birr hotel is one of the finest examples of late Georgian architecture, having been built in 1810, and its well preserved interior features are outstanding amongst the very fine Georgian buildings for which the Heritage Town of Birr is internationally famous.
Beautifully restored, an ancient Grandfather clock in a special niche on the main landing is one of the delights of the County Arms Hotel. Georgian ceilings, with delicately carved cornices and roses, complement the theme of that era together with period furniture, old prints and fine furnishings.
The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy and it is an ideal place to spend a holiday or to break your journey.
