History
The original house was built in 1809 and has been owned and run by the Loughnane family as a hotel since 1962. During this time we have carried out several refurbishment programmes however the most recent, completed in 2007, is the largest refurbishment and expansion programme in its history.
In the planning of the refurbishment and expansion, the Loughnane family have remained committed to the retention of the Georgian character which makes County Arms Hotel so special. By extending at the back of the house, we have eliminated any inconvenience to our visitors, whilst remaining sympathetic to the facade of the building - unchanged for 200 years.
Our increased offering to our visitors includes 62 new Bedrooms and Suites, many with views over our stunning walled garden, a new Restaurant, enhanced Wedding and Conference facilities and a stunning Leisure and Wellness Club incorporating a 20m Swimming Pool, Air Conditioned Techno Gym and Elemis Treatment suites.
The original Georgian house has enjoyed a sympathetic overhaul including our opulent master suites, evocative of an era of grandeur and 19th century sophistication. The redesign of our Reception and foyer allows for easy check-in and check-out, for groups or individuals. Of course, the busy public Bar is unrecognisable and is quite popular for locals and visitors alike.
